Introduction

Established in 2001, GI Partners is a leading private equity investment firm whose North American private equity team focuses on control-oriented, deep value investments in middle-market businesses in North America. The team seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns by targeting investments in companies that GI believes provide significant downside protection as well as the opportunity for significant value creation post-investment through strategic and operational improvement.

Central to GI's strategy is a deep value orientation that seeks to provide substantial downside protection in the Firm's investments. GI's downside protection typically results from seeking to buy businesses in which a significant portion of the purchase price is represented by underlying asset values or the purchase price is discounted as compared to intrinsic or fundamental value because the business operates in a sector that is out of favor or because the business is undergoing financial distress. GI aims to substantially increase the value of these businesses through board-led initiatives, including management change, new product lines, organic growth and/or synergistic add-on acquisitions.

The Firm's investment activities are focused on four targeted, well-researched sectors that are differentiated by their asset intensity, sector growth and cyclical characteristics. These sectors include IT infrastructure and services, healthcare services, leisure and retail, and financial and real estate services.

Within its North American private equity efforts, GI has invested $2.2 billion in 24 platform investments across three private equity funds. With 16 dedicated investment professionals, the North American private equity team has specialized expertise in structured finance, real estate, corporate mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and turnarounds.
