Overview
Sunset Gower Studios, LLC (“Sunset Gower”) is the second-largest independent television and film production studio in the country, providing sound stages, office/support space and related services.
Strategy
GI Partners recognized the real estate asset value within the production studio sector coupled with operational complexity. Sunset Gower, in particular, represented an operating company that had significant real estate holdings and in which capital could be invested and value-add services added. Development opportunities included increasing both stage and office space and re-engineering select stages. Notably, Technicolor was secured as a long-term build-to-suit tenant for a newly constructed 115,000 square foot office building.
Exit
GI Partners exited this investment in August 2007 to Hudson Capital.
