GI Partners Appoints General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

MENLO PARK, CA, March 19, 2014 – GI Partners, a leading middle market private equity firm, today announced the hiring of David Smolen as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. In this role, Mr. Smolen will provide legal support, advice and guidance to GI on all legal and regulatory matters. He will be based in GI’s Menlo Park headquarters.

Mr. Smolen brings to GI Partners 18 years of experience, and joins the firm from Silver Lake, where he was Senior Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Previously, he practiced corporate law at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and clerked for the Honorable Richard F. Suhrheinrich on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
